Project

Ether Video Game Pitch

This was the main project within the Building Functional Groups (BFG) class.

Goal

Creating A Video Game Pitch

Overview

In this class, we broke down into different groups and was given a specific showcase video. From that video, we had to create a full video game pitch. We named our project Ether.

Breakdown

Overview

In this project, we were given a specific video and tasked with creating and pitching a video game idea based on that video.  What we came up with was a semi-open world, action/adventure style game with a heavy focus on narrative.  Pulling themes from the likes of games such as Bioshock, Horizon: Zero Dawn, Elden Ring, and Dishonored, just to name a few. As well as themes from films such Alita: Battle Angel and Elysium. A lot of time went into everything, considering we only had a total of 4 weeks from start to finished video. Everyone pretty much naturally fell in to their rolls where their strengths were the best utilized.

Premise

The story behind the main character is one of mystery. The player starts out after the main character is cast out from a mechanically advanced city into a desolate scrap world where they must now explore and survive. The player has the potential to forge relations with those that live in the world they now find themselves, not only making their life a little bit easier, but also better assist them in their quest to uncover the past, and figure out why they were cast out in the first place.
